Birthday antics

Monkeeee

This is a little batik monkey one of my work pals gave me for my birthday. Photo taken on my 50D “present to myself” bought in Singapore a few weeks back.

It was my 24th b’day on Sunday, and I had a lovely time.

We did dinner and karaoke the night before, which was hilariously fun.  There’s nothing like some Whitney, Britney, Eminem and Spice Girls mashed in with dangdut from Inul Daratista and Trio Macan… East meets West meets Awesome.

There was cheesecake, there were renditions of “Happy Birthday to You” and “Selamat Ulang Tahun”… and best of all, there were fantastic people to spend time with.

I’m just a few days away from having spent eight months now living in Jakarta, and I will be heading home to Oz for a brief visit at the start of next month.  But I have to say, I finally feel like this crazy tangled chaotic city is a home now, so I don’t think I will have any problems returning after my break.  Even though there are loads of great people back in Oz that I obviously miss a lot, there are loads of people I will miss when I (or they) eventually leave Jakarta too.

So, as every birthday girl knows, you can’t have your cake and eat it too…

xx

PS.  I also forgot to say I have a voucher now for the FOUR SEASONS SPA which should be awesome!  I bet it’s pretty too, wonder if photos are allowed?

PPS.  In the photo that is my pile of “books I haven’t read yet”, so don’t even try and start a conversation with me about any of the titles haha.

    Read David Sedaris. So good.

Ya I love him, want to get on to that one soon. Currently reading “The Year of Living Dangerously” which captures Jakarta with a scary accuracy, considering it was written more than 20 years ago. Just add some more malls and cafes to the story and it’s pretty much the same!
