Yeah. The blog is different again. I KNOW I KNOW! I’ve changed it like 10 times in the last six months! It’s the ultimate form of procrastination, what can I say?
The other design was very effective for showing off photos, but it was really hard to read and loaded slowly in Indonesia!
I also think the new name wasn’t working. I was feeling… uninspired. It messed with my chakras or some shit.
So it’s back to the old name. The other URL will still work, but www.bettylovesblogging.com also does it.
And I’m not settled on the design either, still messing around. If you notice any major glitches or if it burns your eyes or whatnot, let me know. I’ll probably overhaul the whole thing again within the space of a month anyway haha.
And I will actually, ya know, try and put up some interesting content some time soon. In the meantime, here’s a quick piece I wrote about Komodo National Park for ACIJ’s Reportage. Where? HERE. Oh, also I wrote one of those pieces where I try and be a bit funny for the Jakarta Globe a few weeks back. Welcome to my new home!
Sorry it’s a bit sparse at the moment. I’ve just been so busy with the move. I popped down to Ikea to see if they had a pre-fab living-blog-room kit, but then I couldn’t put the damn thing together. I ended up swearing at some poor Swedish exchange student who told me just to follow the instructions.
But plonk down on the floor… sorry, yeah, I know that light switch is broken, sorry it’s a bit dark. I will fix it soon. I need to get a ladder first.
Let me get you a drink of this champagne (yeah, I’ve never heard of Swine brand champagne before either, I think it’s Mexican). Sorry, I don’t have any champagne glasses. You don’t mind drinking out of this plastic Batman promotional tumbler I got for free with a McHappy Meal ten years ago, right?

I’m thinking about moving my blog over on to a Wordpress platform… then I can put it on my server space, have more flexibility with widgets and design, and not pay $70 US a year just for a blog. I pay for webspace anyway for my CV site.
I could also rename it if I moved it. I’m sick of this name.
I was thinking of calling it “Trashed” (because, as those who know me in real life are aware, I am Trashlee). But there is a porn site with that name…
Dunno. What should I do? And more importantly, can I be stuffed?

For buying in to the twitter craze? I decided to join, but I don’t know whether I will grow to love or simply forget about twitter.
If you scroll down past my Flickr photos you will see twitters in the left hand column. Twitter is essentially microblogging, where you only have a small amount of characters to respond to the question "what are you doing now?".
I thought I would give it a go. It will probably be a shortlived thing though before the next net craze catches my eye…
Sometimes I wonder if all these little gadgets improve or diminish my quality of life. It’s kinda like when they introduced applications on Facebook. We all were able to live without them… then suddenly we realised what we were missing. Maybe it will be the same with this… why blog once a day (ha… more like once a week lately) when I can instantly blog in tiny sentences from anywhere in the world… crazy.

I was trying to import all my old posts to this blog from Ash Reports, but it just wasn’t happening for me. Bummer. So all the old stuff can still be accessed over there.
If anyone has any feedback on the layout or is having any problems with it, let me know. I’m still tweaking.

I guess I should write something about myself to kick this off. I’m very nearly 22, I live in Sydney. I’m a journalist-slash-photographer by day at a suburban newspaper… after hours I’m not anywhere near as grown up. I love travel, I’m starting to love photography… and betty likes blogging, of course. Betty is a nickname, my real name is Ashlee, or Ash. I will answer to any of the above.
This blog will be filled with the sorts of things most blogs are filled with. Random banter about life, random views about books and music, random whinging, random bitching, and many a random photograph.
I will give this blog a swish design eventually, and I will try and update it regularly.
