A bit of a break from the Bali fest that has overtaken the blog in the last two weeks…
I had a fantastic time with my pals in Pangandaran in West Java at the end of last month (pictured above)… I wrote up a travel piece about all the great things you can do there for the Jakarta Globe, which you can read here.
Read it. Then go there!! I’d highly recommend it.

Gula Jawa (Javanese palm sugar) being poured into bamboo molds to set at a home manufacturer just outside of Pangandaran, West Java. It is made from the concentrated coconut palm nectar and has caramel overtones.
Sugar farm kid with a sugar sweet smile, who seemed to know just the right place to hang out to please the foreigners and their cameras.
