Processing Timor

DiliTimor Leste

I have been posting some blogs recently (you may have noticed) on my experiences in Timor-Leste in the first half of 2012. I didn’t write enough when I was there – the very slow, expensive internet connections weren’t very conducive to blogging – and I also needed time to process the place in my mind.

I do miss Timor. It was a challenging place to live in many ways, but it was so beautiful and complex and just compelling. I wish I had taken more photos, gone more places, collected more information so I could write about it in an even better way.

But I do believe I will be back there at some point.

I’d describe my connection with Timor like this… it’s like I’ve picked up an amazing book, full of wonderful characters who’ve had to go through lots of ups and downs. I want to keep reading. I want to find out what happens in the end.

But the authors haven’t finished writing the book yet.

It’s a work in progress.
